I’m assuming the above image and the band in the video below are the same band. I don’t know a whole lot about Bloodrust other than that we played with them, they were from somewhere South Jersey-ish, and they seemed to take things very very seriously. Apparently people in Belgium know about them though, or at least sell their LP on ebay. The French too. You can also just buy it here.
Or you can give up on them altogether and check out a newer band called Bloodrust.
Anyhow, the angle of the action provides a little too much speaker humping action. For that I apologize.
I don’t know if Time’s Up amounted to much of anything. They were a Middletown, NJ, outfit and one of the guitarists was friends with my brother’s group of friends. For whatever reason, I only have one song’s worth of footage. This was from the same show as all of the Arcane footage below.
…but still, it will make my life easier, as the comment moderation queue ends up with thousands of spam comments if I don’t clear it every week. So anyhow, in order to comment you’ll have to register, which is free, easy, and not a big deal because I don’t care about your personal info. I just don’t want to have to spend my free time cleaning up the trash.
I think I was given marching orders to not put any of this stuff online, but then again, with the exception of the one eurotrash looking dude on the keyboards, you really can’t see a whole lot. Plus, this was shot 7-8 years ago I believe, and hairstyles change, so the eurotrash looking dude probably gels up nowadays. I actually do know 4 of the 5 members, I’m just not saying who they are so I don’t get in trouble. The one I don’t know is — you guessed it — the eurotrash looking dude.
Anyhow, their sound is kind of emo, kind of screamo, kind of hardcore, kind of Refused, kind of alot of things. The singer flails on the floor alot (not sure if the YouTube quality will let you see that.)
When I was in Tonsul we played a show with Arcane at the Bates Lodge in Red Bank, NJ, on June 6th, 1996. Here is their closing number, with the rest of what I have to follow (it’s over 10 minutes so I’ll have to break it up. I don’t know yet if it’s the entire set.)
Just in case you haven’t noticed (or if you have an old Mac like me that can’t get the latest flash player), I’ve put up a betahat store with a bunch of stuff for you to buy. It’s set up so you can buy who albums or you can hit the ‘+’ and buy individual songs. Here’s the catalog so far:
Tonsul — “Hand Over Fist”
Tonsul — “Live at Dari’s”
Everyone Calls Me Chris — “s/t”
I was trying to think of what to do with the site, seeing as how it’s been many moons since my last post. I thought I’d kill the blog, but apparently a couple hundred people or so a month are still visiting. So I’ll keep the blog and do some retooling to make it more useful (including posting more.) Go check out the betahat catalog on iTunes, which should be growing before too long as well:
